In Germany teachers earn very well. I earn ca. 3300 € after taxes, which is about 3753 $ USD. And that is still entry level wage, it gets much higher the longer you work as a teacher. Yes, we could earn more in the industry etc., but also we basically can't be fired except for extreme misbehavior, and we get better conditions for our health insurance. And the pension we get when we retire is pretty good.

Captain here: in America the job of a teacher doesn't require as much education as in Europe and it's underpaid as shit (I think college/university teachers are still paid well but anything below that isnt)

I’m a teacher in CA. In my tenth year, I earn $89k (but I have two BA’s, two MA’s, and an Ed.D— elementary through secondary teachers only need a BA and credential to start). I work 184 days/year, pay zero for my health/vision/dental, have twelve paid sick/personal need days/year (which accumulate if not used), and have tenure. (I was a tenured professor at a community college but the high school schedule is more flexible and the environment more fun.) Teachers need to stop complaining. Most of us couldn’t earn nearly as much in the private sector; and we certainly wouldn’t have the job security we enjoy with tenure. I guess what I’m saying is... a teacher who strips is following their passion. Do don’t pity them, envy them. And tip a little more, knowing you’re helping fund a dream.

My brother in law is a high school teacher in California. I've seen his pay stub and I sure as hell don't feel the slightest bit sorry for him! Especially since his high school librarian wife apparently makes even more than he does.

Its funny. Here in Argentina they are quite underpaid too, but nothing compared to a doctor. Yes, a DOCTOR. Some hospitals are horrible to work at, with shitty colleagues, unbalanced working hours, and worst of all, a retirement fee almost as bad as a teacher. So dont get yourselves victimised just because you work with kids, you are not the only one having it rough out there

I'm a substitute bus driver, sub teacher, bouncer at the local strip club, deliver packages, and volunteer once a month as bartender at a local art gallery, there isn't a person in town that doesn't know my face but none of them realize the shit pay to put up with their shit attitude and shitty kids
